Playdough Recipe

This is actually a really nice, non-sticky playdough. It cleans up so much easier, I was really surprised. I got the recipe from my mother-in-law, Barbara. She said all her boys grew up with this stuff.

2 C flour
1 C salt
4 ts cream of tartar

2 C water
2 Tb oil
food coloring (next time, I'm using A LOT!!)

Bring liquids to a boil, then add dry ingredients all at once and stir like crazy until it forms a ball. That's all there is to it. Store in a ziploc bag between play times!
Oh, and another thing I like about it, is that I didn't panic when Keira was playing with it, since I knew exactly what was in it! (Even though the other stuff is non-toxic, I'm sure.) It's got a lot of salt, so I imagine it wouldn't taste too pleasant. Although, I am a salt freak, and being my daughter and all, you never know... she may like it.

Thanks for the recipe, Gina! We have so much playdough, so maybe we'll make it for gifts (don't anyone steal my idea...ha ha I stole that idea from Laurisa!) And BTW, I was just teasing you about the consumption thing! I hope you know I was just kidding!!!! I love you!!!!

Oh, one question, did you let the kids mix it, or did you do it all yourself, since it was so hot???

Once it was in the pot, I did the main mixing and then kneading. It took a LONG while for it to cool down.

Hey u guys instead of food coloring you can use a package of kool-aide, make sure its the one without sugar. It makes the playdoh smell really good and you don't have to mess with the food coloring mess.Enjoy.
