So, okay, the kids have their favorite songs to listen to on my iPod in the car: the original "Kids in America", "Once Upon A December" from Anastasia, "Last Dollar" by Faith Hill's husband, oh yeah, Tim McGraw, "I Wanna Talk About Me" by Toby Keith, Johnny Cash's "On the Evening Train" (Zane says he likes this one because the mommy dies and it's really sad... which is kind of disturbing to me.) And now they have a new one that they have come to love and listen to repeatedly... over and over and over and over again, it's the song that comedian, Anita Renfroe sings to the William Tell Overature, "Momisms". Here's the video, it's pretty funny.
In listening to this (over and over and over again), I have come to almost completely memorize the lyrics. I think my favorite part is the very end when the audience is cheering, giving her a standing ovation. If only I could get cheers like that after following through with something that I've said to the kids. So, in my mind, when I know I've guided my children in the reality of "life", I imagine Jesus and all the angels, cheering me on, encouraging me to "just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
(Okay, that "swimming" part came from Dory on "Finding Nemo.")
I just can't believe that I already say so much of this to the kids!
