Dun-nun-dun-nun ("Jaws" theme)

Alrighty Lisa, here it is... my review of the Shark Steam Mop Deluxe.

I LOVE IT!!! I've tried so many different cleaning gadgets over the years that Billy just laughed when I bought this the other day. He thinks it's going to be in our next yard sale for $3. (Which would be about 4 years from now, that's how much we enjoy doing yard sales.)

Anyhow, back to the review. It was super easy to put together out of the box, the directions were easy to follow, and I did my kitchen floor, the dining room, the office, and the linen room all in about 10 minutes! And if any of you have been to our house, you'd know that some of those "rooms" are made up, 'cause it's really all in the same room, I just like to think of our house as being bigger than it is sometimes. We have a library, too... okay that's just our bookshelf.

The steam mop was easy to fill, and I especially liked omitting the pain-in-my-back task of bending over the tub to fill up/refill/empty and clean a bucket for the regular mop.

It took about 30 seconds to heat up. You just pump the handle to start the steam and you're ready to go. There was something really sticky on the floor that I've been looking at for a while now but haven't wanted to bend over to peel it off. I've got better things to do. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm pretty sure it was gum. Whatever. I let the steam get it for a few seconds and wha-la! Gone!! To say the least, I was very impressed.

My only negative thing would be that it left a slight haze on the floor, but I've read that after a few times of using it, that doesn't happen anymore.

So there you have it! A great way to clean your floor without all the chemicals, just water, and to save your back as well. When you're done, just throw the cleaning pad in the wash. Yeah for re-usableness! The deluxe model comes with 5 cleaning pads, too. I also like that it's got a power cord instead of a battery that is never charged when I want it to be.

So, we'll see if I can just get into the habit of actually cleaning my floors more often, now that it's not so tough to do.

note: I have tile and hard wood floors.

Okay, first of all, let me share how much of a dork I am. My heart skipped a little bit when I saw on Google Reader that you had posted something. Instantly I thought, "Could it be??? The long-awaited Shark post?" I couldn't wait to read it.
Now, let me say, you really are an awesome product reviewer and Shark should be sending you money for that. You answered all my questions, including the "does this work okay for hardwood?" I will have to start saving up for this super duper cleaner, or I will have to see you in four years for your garage sale!!! =)

Okay, I was thinking, "Does she have that many rooms!" : )

So, how much does it cost? I have to know so I can consider it.

Great review!

Oh, and is it a pain because it's on a cord? I like cordless.

And it is really better than the Swiffer Wet Jet?

I need to know these things.

I was wondering to about the rooms. I'm glad you clarified... I think I would have gotten it right away, but I just woke up and am still in half asleep mode. So... sounds like a cool new toy. (what are clean floors anyway?)

I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's normally $100, but I used a couple coupons so it brought it down to $70.
The regular model is normally $80, but only comes with 2 pads instead of 5 and the cord is 20ft instead of 25ft. To buy extra pads, I think it was $20 for 2.
The cord didn't get in the way, that was fine.
I like it better than the Swiffer for several reasons. You can re-use the pads instead of throwing them away in the landfills, no chemicals, just water, and also that it does a better job.
So there you have it, even more info.
My next review may be on the new air popper that I got, too. Who knew that popping popcorn could be so much fun?! And healthy.
